Install the PBRS Web Application

 

Before You Begin

Before installing the PBRS Web Application, make sure the server meets the following requirements:

• IIS version 7 or later is installed and configured.
• A supported version of PBRS is installed on the server.
• The PBRS API has been installed and configured.
• You are logged in to the server using an account with Administrator privileges.
• You have the PBRS API address available. You will need this during the Web Application installation.

Begin the Installation

Once the prerequisites are in place, you can begin installing the PBRS Web Application.

1. Locate and double-click PBRSSetupX.
2. Select Unzip to extract the PBRS installation files.

1. When the PBRS installer menu opens, locate Install PBRS Web Application and select Go.

1. Select Unzip to extract the PBRS Web Application installation files.
   
   

The PBRS Web Application installer will open automatically when the files have been extracted.

Configure the Installation

When the PBRS Web Application installer opens, configure the following settings:

• Installation Path: Specify where the PBRS Web Application should be installed. You can use the default installation path, which is recommended, or select another location.
• Port: Enter the port number that the PBRS Web Application should use.
• PBRS API Address: Enter the address of the PBRS API that the Web Application will use to communicate with PBRS.

Once the settings have been configured, select Install to begin the installation.

The installer will install and configure the PBRS Web Application. Allow the process to complete without closing the installer.

 

 

Complete the Installation

Once the installation process has finished:

1. Select OK when the installation completion message appears.
   
2. Select Finish to close the installer.

The PBRS Web Application installation is now complete.

Access the PBRS Web Application

After installation, open a web browser on the server and navigate to:

http://localhost/

The PBRS Web Application login screen will be displayed.

1. Enter your PBRS Username.
2. Enter your PBRS Password.
3. Select Log In.

Once authenticated, you can begin using the PBRS Web Application.

Verify the Installation

Before making the PBRS Web Application available to other users, verify that:

• The PBRS Web Application opens successfully in the browser.
• You can log in using valid PBRS credentials.
• The Web Application can communicate with the configured PBRS API.
• PBRS information and functionality are available after login.

If these checks are successful, the PBRS Web Application is ready to use.

Troubleshooting

If you experience problems installing or accessing the PBRS Web Application, use the following guidance to identify and resolve common issues.

The PBRS Web Application Installer Does Not Start

Possible cause: The installation files may not have been extracted correctly, or the installer may not have sufficient permissions.

Resolution:

• Confirm that the PBRS installation files were successfully extracted.
• Run PBRSSetupX using Run as administrator.
• Verify that the Windows account performing the installation has Administrator privileges.
• If necessary, extract the installation files again and restart the installation.

The PBRS Web Application Does Not Open in the Browser

Possible cause: IIS may not be configured correctly, or the Web Application may not have been installed successfully.

Resolution:

• Confirm that IIS is installed and running on the server.
• Verify that the PBRS Web Application installation completed successfully.
• Confirm that the port configured during installation is available and accessible.
• Restart IIS and try accessing the PBRS Web Application again.

The PBRS Web Application Cannot Connect to the PBRS API

Possible cause: The PBRS API address may be incorrect, or the API may not be running or accessible from the Web Application server.

Resolution:

• Verify the PBRS API Address entered during installation.
• Confirm that the PBRS API is installed and running.
• Verify that the Web Application server can communicate with the server and port used by the PBRS API.
• Check any firewall or network rules that could prevent communication between the Web Application and PBRS API.

The Login Screen Appears but You Cannot Log In

Possible cause: The credentials may be incorrect, or the Web Application may be unable to communicate with PBRS.

Resolution:

• Confirm that you are entering a valid PBRS Username and Password.
• Verify that the PBRS API is running and accessible.
• Confirm that the Web Application is configured to use the correct PBRS API address.
• Try logging in again after verifying the connection.

The Web Application Works Locally but Cannot Be Accessed from Another Computer

Possible cause: The Web Application may only be accessible locally, or the configured port may be blocked.

Resolution:

• Confirm that the PBRS Web Application is running correctly on the server.
• Verify that the required port is open in Windows Firewall and any network firewalls.
• Confirm that users can resolve and reach the PBRS Web Application server from their computers.
• Verify the IIS site bindings and ensure they allow the required connections.

The Issue Persists After Checking the Configuration

If the PBRS Web Application still does not install, open, or communicate with PBRS, review the relevant PBRS logs for additional error information.

The error details can help identify whether the problem is related to the installation, IIS configuration, PBRS API connectivity, authentication, or network access.

Beginning the Installation

To install the latest build/version of PBRS Web, perform the following steps:

Step 1: Double-click PBRSSetupX, then click unzip.

Step 2: Click Go next to Install PBRS Web Application (Beta).

 

Step 3: Select the Unzip option. This will launch the installer screen for the PBRS Web Application.

  

Step 4: Complete the information for the Installation Path, Port and PBRS API Address. 

Step 5: Click Install.

Step 6: Click OK.

Step 7: Click Finish.  The installation of the PBRS Web Application is now complete, and you can begin using it immediately.
