Set a reporting cadence that matches how your business works.

Recurring Schedules

Run reports hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. Use frequency settings for every other day or a pattern such as the third Monday of each month.

Business-Day Scheduling

Schedule a report for a working day of the month, such as the fourth working day.

Custom Calendars

Select individual reporting dates from your 4-4-5 finance calendar or another irregular timetable, then apply that calendar to the schedule.

Exceptions & Blackout Dates

Exclude country holidays and your own closure or blackout dates from the reporting schedule.

A Calendar Example with a Company Closure

For example, run a September close report at 08:00 UTC on 12, 13 and 14 October 2026. The company is closed on 13 October, so that date should not produce a run.

Select the Run Dates

Create the custom calendar and select 12 and 14 October. Leave 13 October unselected, then apply that calendar to the schedule.

Keep the Data Period Explicit

For both runs, set the report’s date filters or parameters to cover 1–30 September 2026. The selected October run dates determine when the close report is produced, not which month it contains.

Apply Later Calendar Changes

When you edit the calendar, use Update Schedules so its linked jobs receive the new dates. After the 12 October run, the next selected date in this example is 14 October.

The calendar has runs on 12 and 14 October, with no run on the closure date. See calendar configuration.

Keep the Calendar Ready for Its Next Run. ATRS runs on a supported Windows host and connects to Tableau Cloud. It does not connect to Tableau Server. Configure the Windows Service when reports must run while no user is logged in.

Review the Next Intended Run

After changing a frequency or calendar, confirm the next scheduled date, time and time zone. If the scheduler and your user account use different time zones, check the Use Relative time setting in the General options guide.

Extend Calendars Before They End

Schedules using a custom calendar are disabled when it ends. Add further dates and use the available option to re-enable the affected schedules.
