When Native Tableau Subscriptions Are Enough—and When You Need ATRS

Native Tableau subscriptions are a good choice for licensed users who need PNG or PDF emails on a schedule or after a supported data refresh. Choose ATRS when report delivery becomes operational—requiring external recipients, data-driven personalization, additional formats, report packages, business-event triggers or destinations beyond email.

Native Tableau Subscriptions

A good fit for straightforward internal delivery

Recipients are Tableau users with permission to view and download the subscribed content.
You need PNG or PDF email snapshots delivered on a schedule or after a supported data refresh.
The same report view—or a manageable number of saved custom views—meets your filtering requirements.
Email is the only report-delivery destination required.
ATRS Advanced Tableau Report Scheduler

Choose ATRS for advanced report distribution

Reports must be delivered to customers, partners or other external recipients or recipients without Tableau licenses.
Each recipient needs personalized filters, parameters, content or delivery instructions.
You need PDF, Excel, CSV or multi-report packages with merged, bookmarked or tabbed output.
Reports must run on custom calendars or in response to database, file, email or port events.
Delivery must extend beyond email to Teams, SharePoint, FTP, cloud storage or network folders.

Turn Tableau Reports Into Complete, Automated Report Packages

ATRS combines multiple Tableau views, applies the right filters, packages the output and delivers it automatically—without manual exporting, assembly or distribution.

Combine multiple Tableau reports or views
Build one automated output from the reports your recipients actually need.
Create merged PDF report packages
Assemble multiple reports into a single organized PDF for easier distribution and review.
Build multi-sheet Excel outputs
Organize multiple report or data outputs into one workbook with separate tabs.
Personalize each package
Apply different filters, parameters and content for each customer, department or recipient.
Schedule or trigger report creation automatically
Run report packages on a schedule or in response to business and system events.
Deliver the finished output automatically
Send completed report packages to the recipients and destinations required by your workflow.

The result: ATRS replaces the manual process of exporting individual Tableau views, assembling files and distributing them with one repeatable automated workflow.

One Tableau Report.
Personalized for Every Recipient.

ATRS can use data to determine exactly what each recipient receives—so one automated schedule can generate and distribute many different versions of the same Tableau report.

Personalize filters and parameters
Send each customer, department or user only the report data relevant to them.
Control recipients from your data
Use database-driven rules to determine who receives each report automatically.
Vary formats, filenames and messages
Dynamically control output format, file naming, subject lines, message content and other delivery details.
Deliver each version where it belongs
Route personalized outputs to the appropriate email recipients, folders, FTP locations or other destinations.

One schedule can replace dozens—or hundreds—of manually maintained report subscriptions.

ATRS data-driven personalization automatically creates and delivers filtered Tableau reports for different recipients, formats and destinations.

Run Tableau Reports on Your Schedule—or When Business Events Happen

ATRS can run Tableau reports on fixed schedules, custom business calendars or in response to operational events—so report delivery happens when your process requires it, not just at a preset time.

Schedule reports around your business
Run reports hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or according to custom business calendars.
Trigger reports from database activity
Start report workflows when database records are created, changed or removed.
Respond to file and email events
Run reports when a file appears or changes, or when a qualifying email is received.
Automate delivery after the trigger
Generate, export and distribute the required Tableau reports automatically once the event occurs.

ATRS can make report delivery part of the business process itself—not just another recurring calendar task.

ATRS schedules and triggers Tableau report workflows from calendars, database changes, files, email events and incoming data.

Deliver Tableau Reports Wherever Your Business Needs Them

ATRS can automatically route finished Tableau reports to the people, systems and storage locations your workflow requires—without forcing every recipient to log in to Tableau.

Email
Deliver reports directly to internal or external recipients with automated subject lines, messages and attachments.
Microsoft Teams
Send scheduled report outputs into the collaboration channels your teams already use.
SharePoint & OneDrive
Publish reports automatically to Microsoft document libraries and cloud storage locations.
Google Drive & Dropbox
Route recurring Tableau outputs to cloud storage used by customers, partners or distributed teams.
FTP & SFTP
Deliver report files securely to external systems, partners and automated downstream processes.
Network Folders
Save reports directly into internal file systems and shared folders as part of existing business workflows.

ATRS separates report delivery from Tableau access. Recipients can receive the finished information they need through the appropriate channel without every distribution workflow depending on direct Tableau access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn how ATRS handles deployment, scheduling, personalization, export formats and report delivery.

Deployment & Security

Is ATRS installed on-premises?

Yes. ATRS is an on-premises solution installed on a server in your environment. Its application database can be stored on that server or in an enterprise SQL Server instance that you manage.

Does ChristianSteven store or access my Tableau data?

ATRS runs in your environment. ChristianSteven does not host the ATRS database or store your reporting data. ATRS connects to Tableau using the configured Tableau account so it can run and export reports.

How does Tableau user-level security work with scheduled reports?

ATRS inherits the Tableau security permissions of the Tableau account used for the connection. You can then apply report parameters and filters within the ATRS schedule to control the data included in each exported report.

Can ATRS secure exported PDF reports?

Yes. ATRS supports PDF encryption, password protection, print and copy permissions, and DRM-related security options. Passwords can also be data-driven so different recipients receive individually protected files.

Scheduling & Automation

Can ATRS run Tableau reports on custom schedules?

Yes. In addition to daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual schedules, ATRS supports custom business frequencies such as working days, last day of the month and 4-4-5 calendars. Holiday calendars and blackout periods can also be used.

Can Tableau reports be triggered by database, file or email events?

Yes. ATRS can trigger report workflows when a database record is created, modified or deleted, when a file appears or changes, when an unread email is detected, and from other supported operational events.

Can ATRS run a report only when a business condition occurs?

Yes. Event-triggered scheduling allows report generation and delivery to begin when defined business or system conditions are met rather than relying only on a fixed time schedule.

Can ATRS check for blank reports before sending them?

Yes. ATRS can detect blank reports and then take the action you define, such as doing nothing, running a workflow or sending the report anyway.

Personalization & Distribution

Can ATRS send different versions of the same Tableau report to different recipients?

Yes. ATRS Data-Driven Schedules can run the same report repeatedly with different parameter values and distribute each resulting version to the appropriate recipient.

Can recipients and filters be driven from a database?

Yes. Database tables and queries can dynamically control recipients, filters, parameters, output formats, destinations and other schedule variables at runtime.

Can ATRS send Tableau reports to people who do not have Tableau licenses?

Yes. ATRS can export Tableau reports to files and distribute those finished outputs outside Tableau. Recipients receive the exported report through the configured delivery method rather than needing to access the report directly in Tableau.

Can one schedule create many personalized report outputs?

Yes. A single data-driven schedule can generate multiple report versions by applying different parameter values, recipients, formats and destinations for each database record returned at runtime.

Formats & Delivery

What formats can ATRS export Tableau reports to?

ATRS supports PDF, CSV, HTML, JPG, PNG, PowerPoint, EPUB, Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx), and Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), including a separate Excel Data Only option.

Can ATRS combine multiple reports into one PDF or Excel workbook?

Yes. ATRS can consolidate multiple exported reports into report packages, including multi-tabbed Excel workbooks. The current ATRS page also supports multi-report PDF delivery workflows.

Where can ATRS deliver completed reports?

ATRS can deliver reports to Email, Disk and network folders, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Dropbox, FTP, Azure Blob Storage, Amazon S3, printers, and SMS destinations, depending on the reporting workflow.

Can ATRS export all pages of a Tableau report?

Yes. ATRS can export all pages of a report, or you can specify an individual page or page range.
