How PBRS Can Simplify Your Business Intelligence
by Christian Ofori-Boateng on Aug 3, 2021 11:00:00 AM
We increasingly live in a data-driven world. However, not everyone in the world of startups, which depend so heavily on making data-based decisions, has the technical background to automatically thrive in this environment. Companies driven by the expertise of artists, chefs, accountants, designers, and visionaries can easily lack the analytical expertise to move in that direction.
That lack of technical knowledge within a given startup, though, is not automatically cause for alarm. It just necessitates the use of intuitive data tools, designed to build analytics and insights without a PhD in data science on staff.
Tools like Power BI and ChristianSteven Power BI Report Scheduler are specifically designed to work without a dedicated data scientist. They help to put the right data into the right hands, at the right time. Through easy and intuitive set-up, intelligence-based reporting and automated delivery, PBRS simplifies business intelligence by removing the friction.
How Actionable Business Intelligence Can Provide an Edge Over Your Competition
"Information is the oil of the 21st century, and analytics is the combustion engine."
—Peter Sondergaard, Gartner Research
We've come a long way since building a business essentially relied on trusting your instincts. In today's competitive environment, startups and businesses of any size thrive when they can rely on data to make decisions on anything from new product development to internal hiring processes.
The data, naturally, bears out just how business intelligence can help businesses:
- Data analytics can increase the speed of crucial business decision-making by 5x.
- Eight in 10 manufacturers have seen business intelligence work successfully in their organization.
- According to Deloitte, companies whose CEOs spearhead data-driven decision-making are 77% more likely to achieve core business goals.
- According to Forbes, 64% of business leaders say that self-service business intelligence creates a significant competitive advantage.
That last bullet, especially, is key. Too often, especially smaller businesses still see business intelligence as a complex topic that's difficult to execute and implement. For organizations able to shift to a more intuitive system that requires minimal setup and execution, it becomes an edge that can propel significant competitive advantages.
Simplify Your Business Intelligence with PBRS
The key about making business intelligence simple is finding both the right tool, and the right team to help in the implementation. Fortunately, Power BI and PBRS are best in that environment. As you get started in partnering with ChristianSteven, we'll ensure that setup, basic training and onboarding, as well as technical support are always provided. Videos and backup support are in place to help you from the beginning and throughout your time as a user of the tool.
In exchange, you start off the right foot with a team by your side. That, in turn, allows you to gain insights from timely data that allow your operation to become more efficient, make better business decisions, and better understand what specific areas of your business to focus on. That's what a simple tool, with the help of a reliable partner, can achieve.
A Step-By-Step Guide to Getting Started With PBRS
Let's dig into getting started with PBRS to simplify your business intelligence more specifically. Once the tool has been downloaded, open Power BI and navigate to the menu bar. Then, click on Get Data.
At this point, users will see a down arrow that reveals a list of more than 99 file types from compatible data sources. You can pull from each of them to create a wide range of visualization charts to leverage insights on sales numbers, inventory orders, and countless other data sets.
Choose your data file of choice, and verify that it has been uniformly entered across each column and row. Once verified, choose Load. If you need to edit sections, choose Transform Data before selecting Load.
The loading process requires a few minutes of time. Once completed, you can begin to construct the formatting of your chart. You will find three panes on the right-hand side of your screen:
- Filter
- Visualization
- Fields
Expand each by clicking the arrow at the top of the pane.
Begin by choosing the type of chart needed from the visualization pane. Once selected, you can drag and drop each individual Field into the visualization. Change the format and choose the chart type based on both your audience and the insights you want to leverage from your business intelligence dashboard. It’s literally that easy.
On the surface, the idea of a data report process can seem complex but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Fortunately, it doesn't need to be. When partnering with ChristianSteven, you will have access to a comprehensive framework of tutorials and experienced staff, dedicated to helping our clients get started with Power BI, PBRS, and business intelligence in general.
